Police Log: Roaming Roosters, Hair Care Heists And A "Clothing Malfunction"

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Monday, July 19, through Thursday, July 22. Look for weekend incident reports each Monday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.
Animal
- Two bats reported were reported in a dining room on Garrison Road around 11:30 p.m. on July 22. The resident wasn't exposed the bats, but planned to stay somewhere else for the night.
- A chicken and rooster were reportedly roaming around Davis and Elm streets around 10:30 a.m. on July 22. The animals were returned to their coop.
- An injured bird was reported on the 1000 block of Beacon Street around 8:30 a.m. on July 22, but it was gone by the time officers arrived.
- A raccoon was reported in the kitchen of a nursery school on Harvard Street around 7 a.m. on July 22.
- A bat was reported in the kitchen of a restaurant in Brookline Village around 8:30 p.m. on July 21.
- On July 21, police received reports of a "very sweet dog" left inside a red Cadillac El Dorado on the 1700 block of Beacon Street. The caller told police they'd opened an unlocked door to ventilate the car and give the dog water.
- A bat became trapped between a window and a screen on July 21.
- Police received reports of a sick rat in front of a building on Harvard Street on July 21.
- Two sick bats were reported in a home on Sewall Avenue on July 21.
- A rooster was reported in the front yard of a home on Davis Avenue.
- A cockerspaniel was reportedly running around without a leash near Meadowbrook and Goddard streets on July 20.
- Police were called to a business on the 200 block of Harvard Street on July 22 after a woman reportedly tried to pass a fake traveler's cheque.
- On July 22, a driver reported that a woman had struck her car on Harvard Street and fled toward Brookline Village after saying she didn't have a license. Police received reports of a the same car driving erratically around the village about the same time.
- A car parked on Eliot Street had its rear tail light damaged on July 22.
- A parked car was reportedly struck another car around 2:46 p.m. on the 1300 block of Beacon Street. A witness at the scene said they had the license play from car that fled and would leave a note for the owner of the other car.
- A market tent and bicycle were reported missing from a building on Kent Street on July 20.
- Two men carrying a cooler reportedly stole hair care products and diapers from a business on the 200 block of Harvard Street around 1:30 p.m. on July 20.
- A cell phone was reportedly stolen from a store on Harvard Street on July 19.
- An alleged shoplifter was arrested at a movie store on the 1600 block of Beacon Street on July 19.
- Someone reportedly smashed in the window of a pickup truck near Pearl and Brookline streets and stole several articles late on July 21.
- Police received a report of two men acting suspiciously and trying to break into a car near Franklin and Cypress streets on July 20. Responding officer reported that the men owned the car and had been locked out.
- A bicycle was reported stolen from Park Street on July 20.
- Someone broke into an office on 1100 Beacon Street and tampered with a safe.
- A Plymouth resident called police on July 20 to report that they had lost a bag with a cell phone they'd left on the sidewalk on Harvard Street.
- Around 10 p.m. on July 19, a woman reported that a man with a white beard and a shopping cart had exposed his genitals at the Coolidge Corner T stop. Responding officers reported that it appeared to be a "clothing malfunction" and passed information on the incident to the MBTA police.
