Runaway Dump Truck Crashes Into Snow Bank
No injuries in accident on Chestnut Hill Avenue.
A dump truck loaded with snow crashed into a bank on Chestnut Hill Avenue after rolling down the hill toward oncoming traffic.
Brookline Patch editor Neal Simpson happened to be driving up the street around 1:45 p.m. when he observed the large truck rolling slowly toward him as a worker chased after it. Like other drivers in his lane, Simpson was able to maneuver around the slow-moving truck and avoid collision.
The truck crashed into a snow bank about two blocks down the hill, just north of the intersection of Willard Street and Chestnut Hill Avenue. It was not clear if anyone was in the cab of the truck as it rolled down the street.

With a police officer directing traffic, several workers were able to free the truck using a skid loader and drive it away. No one appeared to be injured, though the workers did not answer questions on the scene.
The crew appeared to have been clearing snow from the driveway of a house at the intersection of Dean Road and Chestnut Hill Avenue when they lost control of the truck, which carried the name of the Landscape Collaborative of New England.
