Snow Forces Brookline Public Schools To Close Wednesday, March 14

Even though the snow is supposed to slow down tonight Brookline has called it.

BROOKLINE, MA — Wednesday there will be no snow, yet again, for Brookline students. The district announced Tuesday evening the snow has forced them to close once again. Brookline's announcement comes on the heels of Boston City Mayor's announcing that Boston would be closed for the day tomorrow, too.

The governor and state officials say if you don't have to, don't drive today as the roads are slick and visibility is minimal. And that's true in Brookline, too. Brookline police are thanking folks for not driving so the DPW crews can do their work.

The National Weather Service issued a Blizard Warning for Eastern Massachusetts today as more than 230 homes and businesses in Brookline were without power as of 8 a.m. But by 2:30 p.m. Eversource said power had returned for all but one customer. By 7 p.m. all power was on, according to the power company.

The snow is wet and starting to come down even more now. A driver on the road at 7:15 a.m. had to turn into a couple skids. Since then the snow has piled up and so has the ice. Drive slow. The T is running on a Saturday schedule. Logan flights are cancelled.

  • Best Burger Bar, Brookline Village: Considering opening for dinner (until 9 p.m.), “Beat Your Librarian” trivia night has been rescheduled for March 20.
