Water Damage Shuts Down Brookline Village Post Office

Utility crews working to get office up and running later today.

Water damage from this week's perpetual rains have forced the Brookline Village Post Office to close while utilities crews make repairs.

Postal employees posted two signs on the front door this morning explaining that they would remain closed indefinitely.

"Closed due to heavy rain flooding Verizon lines. All systems are down. No telling when it will be restored," the signs read. "No transactions can be done."

An employee who asked not to be identified said utility crews were on scene and hoped to have the office running again sometime today. The employee said the crews were replacing a cable, but couldn't provide further details about the damage.

"It's all up to Verizon," he said.
