Weekend Police Log: Defenestration Damage Prompts Police Call

The following incident report is based on dispatch logs for Friday, March 11, through Sunday, March 13. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

Best of Blotter
  • A passerby called police on March 13 after noticing a broken window near a fire escape in an alley off Harvard Street. Police examined the damage and determined that it was caused by objects being thrown from inside the building. Officer were not initially able to contact residents.
  • A Beaconsfield Road resident called police on March 11 and reported that his neighbor was banging on the wall because they didn’t like his wife’s piano playing.
Animal
  • A Mason Terrace resident called police on March 13 after finding a bat in a front staircase.
  • A coyote was spotted on a playground on Westbourne Terrace early on March 13. An office reported that the animal was β€œsent on its way.”
  • A man called police on March 12 to report a fox in a Gardner Road yard. The caller said his wife believed that the animal could be rabid because it was out during the daytime.
  • A sick or injured possum was spotted in Coolidge Corner on March 12.
Theft
  • A vehicle was reported stolen from the U-Haul lot on Route 9 on March 12.
Burglary
  • A Freeman Street resident called police early on March 12 after hearing a jingling of keys that sounded like someone was trying to get into her apartment.
  • Someone reportedly broke into an unlocked car on West Roxbury Parkway and riffled through a gym bag and glove compartment sometime before March 11.
Misc
  • Someone called police on March 12 and reported that 20 kids were smoking pot behind a Chestnut Street building.
