Weekend Police Log: First Turkey Sightings of the Season

Dispatch entries for Sept. 3 to 6.

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Friday, Sept. 3, through Monday, Sept. 6. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

Best of the Blotter
  • Police responded to a report of "man down on the ground crying" on Heath Street around 2 a.m. on Sept. 5. Officer reportedly found several people talking outside and told them to take it inside for the night.
Vandalism
  • Police received a report that a child had broken a window with a rock on High Street around 4 p.m. on Sept. 6.
  • A caller reported that someone had damaged a window on the 1600 block Beacon Street with a metal bench on Sept. 6. It was not clear whether anyone had entered the building.
  • Someone reportedly threw a rock through a window on the 1100 block of Beacon Street shortly after midnight on Sept. 6.
Theft
  • An iPhone was reportedly stolen from a building on the 1700 block of Beacon Street between 4 and 5 p.m. on Sept. 6.
  • Someone reported losing a wallet at the Harvard Street Anna's Taqueria in late August.
  • Police received a report of several men trying to remove a bike from a town pole on Lancaster Terrace around 8 p.m. on Sept. 5.
  • A shoplifter reportedly stole a pair of jeans from a Harvard Street store on Sept. 5.
  • Employees at T.J.Maxx on Harvard Street contacted police around 1:44 p.m. on Sept. 5 after they reportedly detained a female shoplifter.
  • A woman reported that she her wallet was stolen while she shopping at T.J.Maxx on Sept. 4. The woman said she believed it was taken while she was distracted attending to her three children.
  • A woman came into the police station on Sept. 3 to report that several packages and pieces of mail had been stolen from her.
Lost & Found
  • A woman reported that she had lost an orange wallet with African print while eating at Mr. Sushi on Sept. 5.
  • Someone came in on Sept. 5 to report that he had lost his U.S. passport somewhere between a flight between Ethiopia and Washington, D.C. and a train bound for Boston.
Animal
  • Someone reported an injured baby squirrel on Powell Street around 11 a.m. on Sept. 6.
  • An injured turkey was spotted in a backyard on Tappan Street on Sept. 5.
  • A woman was reportedly bitten on her inner thigh by a dog tied up in front of the Star Market on Beacon Street on Sept. 4. The woman was treated for the bite.
  • A passerby reported an "apparently injured' turkey on Winchester Street on Sept. 4.
Breaking & Entering
  • A Rice Street resident reported that someone pushed in an air conditioner on the side of their house and moved a jewelry box inside on Sept. 5.
  • A caller reported that they came out of the Harvard Street Stop & Shop and found someone had punched out the keyhole on their car door around 8 p.m. on Sept. 3. The car was not opened and nothing appeared to be missing.Β 
Hit & Run
  • A blue SUV with a teenager at the wheel reportedly struck a car on the 1700 block of Beacon Street around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 3. and took off.
  • Someone reported struck a car near Beacon and Marion streets around 1 p.m. on Sept. 3 and took off east on Beacon Street.
Misc.
  • A mother called police to report that her daughter had been punched in the face during a party on Matha's Lane late on Sept. 4.
  • A Park Street resident asked that a police officer be present while building management goes through her residence, saying that she had been assaulted by the staff in the past.

Ed. note: This week's weekend police log has been posted on Tuesday instead of Monday because of the Labor Day holiday. Arrest logs will also be posted one day late this week.
