Weekend Police Log: 'Funny' Racoon Climbs Too High

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Friday, Sept. 17, through Sunday, Sept. 19. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

- Police received a report of a group of teens smoking pot on Harvard Street in Coolidge Corner on Sept. 17, but officers could not locate the kids and a nearby parent said they hadn't seen or smelled anything.
- Someone reported seeing a raccoon acting "funny" on the roof of a medical building on Sept. 19. The caller told dispatchers the animal appeared to be sick or "suffering from fear of heights.
- A dead squirrel was spotted on a sidewalk on Littell Road on Sept. 18.
- A postal worker was reportedly bitten by a dog on Davis Avenue on Sept. 17.
- A Spooner Road resident reported that a "large black bird" was in her back yard and appeared to be injured.
- A bike was reported stolen from Freeman Street on Sept. 19.
- A bike was reportedly stolen from the storage locker of a Winchester Street apartment building between Sept. 16 and 19.
- A phone and iPod were reported missing from the Mobil Station at 345 Boylston St. on Sept. 19.
- Someone broke into a Perry Street home and stole some jewelry on Sept. 18 or 19.
- A woman reported losing a denim purse with leather straps around 7 p.m. on Sept. 18.
- A Samsung cell phone was dropped off at the front desk of the Brookline Police Station on Sept. 18.
- A boys mountain bike with a blue and gray frame was found in the park area near Highland Road and Jamaica Road on Sept. 18.
- Someone reported losing a brown leather wallet containing eight credit cards, $5,000 in checks and $500 in cash on Sept. 1.
- A woman reported finding a wallet outside 60 Longwood Avenue on Sept. 18.
- A woman reported that she was rear-ended by another driver who fled down Beacon Street toward Boston on Sept. 17.
- A passerby reported seeing a dark blue Chrysler on the 1200 block of Beacon Street with the driver-side window smashed and a set of keys nearby on Sept. 19. A responding police officer reported that the keys belonged to a Ford and not the damaged car.
