Weekend Police Log: ID Authenticity Debated, Traffic Cones Dumped

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Friday, Aug. 27, through Sunday, Aug 29. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

- Late on Aug. 28, an employee at the Wine Press on Beacon Street reported that they had confiscated a possibly fake ID and wanted to speak to a police officer about it. The owner of the ID also requested to speak with a police officer as well.
- A man was reportedly seen leaving the Walgreen in Brookline Village with a stolen bottle of fish oil on Aug. 29.
- A Winslow Road resident called police on Aug. 27 to report that the traffic cones they used to block off their driveway were "consistently" thrown in the trash.
- A mountain bike was reported stolen from Prince Street on Aug. 29.
- A Hammond Street resident reported that her laptop was stolen on Aug. 27.
- A wallet was found in the parking lot by the Brookline Hills T Station on Aug. 29.
- A briefcase was found between two postal boxes on the 1000 block of Beacon Street on Aug. 29.
- A brown dog was reported wandering in someone's backyard on Clinton Road on Aug. 29.
- A dead squirrel was reported in the "baby section" of Pierce Park on Aug. 29.
- Someone broke into a Chevy Equinox parked near Brookline Avenue and Parkway Road and stolen a GPS unit on Aug. 28.
- A Prince Street resident reported that she woke up on Aug. 26 after hearing a loud noise and discovered her side window and screen open. She told police she believed someone was trying to break into her home.
- An 81-year-old resident on Walnut Street called police late on Aug. 29 to report that someone was throwing pebbles at her window for the second night in a row.
- A man reported that someone had stuck a pin in the tires of his moped parked near St. Paul and Parkman streets on Aug. 28 and told police he suspected it was a neighbor who had complained about the noise it caused the night before. He later told police the flat tire may have been caused by prior damage.
- Someone reported that a car on Clyde Street was keyed on Aug. 28.
- The owner of Williams Piano called police around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 28 to complain about Pro-Life protestors gathering in front of his store.
