The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Friday, Aug. 13, through Sunday, Aug 15. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

Animal
  • An inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture called police around 3 p.m. on Aug. 13 to report that his team had come across a raccoon that appeared to be rabid while hunting for signs of the Asian longhorn beetle.
Breaking & Entering
  • A Parkman Street resident reported that someone tried to break into their car sometime on the night of Aug. 14.
Theft
  • Β Someone stole all four wheels of a Honda Civic on Babcock Street on the night of Aug. 14.
  • A bicycle with a child seat was reported stolen from a hallway on Summit Avenue on Aug. 15.
  • A wallet was reported stolen around 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 14.
  • Several packs of baseball cards were reported missing from a basement storage locker on Babcock Street.
Fraud
  • A Sewall Avenue resident reported receiving a letter from Capital One saying someone had opened an account in her name.
Hit & Run
  • A car reportedly clipped the mirror of a car on Pleasant Street around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, and continued down Crowninshield Road.
  • A silver Subaru parked near Winslow Road and Babcock Street was reportedly struck by a beige Toyota Scion around 3 p.m. on Aug. 13.
Lost & Found
  • A caller reported losing her military ID card around 10 Brookline Place sometime on Aug. 14.
  • A black wallet with a driver's license, four credit card and personal papers was found near Route 9 and Reservoir Road on Aug. 13.
Misc.
  • A Winthrop Road landlord told police he believes a tenant had stolen $1,500 worth of laundry money over a four-year period. The tenant had been given a key to take money out of the machines at the end of each, but the landlord said he hadn't seen any of it.
  • A Commonwealth Avenue restaurant called police to report that three people were standing outside and threatening passersby and punching a newspaper stand.
  • A woman contacted police around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 15 and reported that she had been mugged, though she could say where. A responding officer reported that the woman was drunk and had left her wallet at a restaurant in Brighton.
  • A caller reported that she was at a park near Columbia and Russell streets when a man identifying himself as a police officer approached her and showed her pictures of a woman and a young boy lying together in a bed, saying it was for an "investigation." The man was reportedly carrying a walkie-talkie and a badge, but was not wearing a uniform and was missing several front teeth.
  • Police were called to 90 Longwood Avenue after a man reportedly ran into the building behind another resident.
  • An Independence Drive resident reported that he returned home around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 14 and found a note with a picture of his 9-year-old daughter with an X through it. The caller said it appeared that a child had drawn the X.
