Weekend Police Logs: Restaurant Protestors and Unwanted Dumpster Divers

Dispatch entries for Aug. 6 – 8.

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Friday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug 9. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

Larceny
  • Someone called Brookline Police around 5 p.m. on Aug. 8 to report that their wallet was stolen in Watertown two hours earlier and the credit cards inside had been used fraudulently.
  • A shoplifter reportedly took off with a plastic bag full of shirts from The Gap on Harvard Street shortly before 1 p.m. on Aug. 8. Several officers gave chase, but they were unable to locate the man.
  • A car was reported stolen on Aug. 7 after the owner noticed it was missing from the assigned spot on Marion Street where they had left it several days earlier.
  • A wallet containing an ID and $40 in cash was reportedly stolen near Lawton and Thorndike streets on Aug. 7.
  • A front gear shifter, handlebars and brake cables were stripped from a bicycle on Harvard Street sometime early on Aug. 7.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from a locked hallway on Egmont Street on Aug. 7.
  • Someone approached an officer on around 3 p.m. on Aug. 7 to report that a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo had been stolen on Colchester Street.
  • A green Integra with New Jersey plates was reported stolen from St. Paul Street and Stearns Road around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 7.
  • A package left in the vestibule of a Stanton Road apartment building was stolen by the following day.
  • A license plate was reported missing from a car on Orchard Road on Aug. 6. The owner told police they thought it had be stolen.
Breaking and entering
  • A Gerry Road resident came home around 9 a.m. on Aug. 7 and found their apartment broken into. A laptop, cell phone and purse were reportedly taken.
Lost and found
  • Someone contacted police on Aug. 8 to report that a child's bicycle had been left behind a set of swing at Clark Playground for two days. Officers picked up the bike and brought it back to the station.
  • A Massachusetts license was reported missing around 1:30 on Aug. 7.
  • Some called police on Aug. 6 to report that a backpack was hanging from a pedestrian signal at Boylston Street and Reservoir Road on Aug. 6. Police were able to locate the bag's owner and arrange for them to pick it up.
Misc.
  • Police were called to Harvard Street around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 7 on reports that someone had broken the chain on a dumpster to rummage through its contents. The alleged dumpster diver was issued a verbal no-trespass order.
  • Someone slashed the tires of a car on Harvard Street between Aug. 4 and 6.
  • Around 7:30 on Aug. 6, the manager at the Metropolitan Club on Route 9 called police to report that protestors had trespassed on to restaurant property.
  • A Franklin Road landlord told police a tenant had assaulted them when they complained about a loud party on Aug. 6.
