Having Independence Day fall on a Monday makes for a nice long weekend in July, but it also means two days of closed offices and limited services in many parts of town. We've compiled a list to keep you on top of what's closed and what's open.
- Town Hall: All non-essential town offices are closed through the weekend and Monday. The Public Safety Building will remain open as usual.
- Libraries: All public libraries are closed Sunday and Monday. The Coolidge Corner branch is open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday as usual.
- Post Offices: All branches closed Sunday and Monday.
- Parks and Recreation Facilities: Brookline Parks and Recreation offices are closed Monday, but the Kirrane Aquatics Center and all parks are open and rangers are on duty. Splash pads will run on their normal schedule. Town camp programs start Tuesday.
- Transportation: The Green Line and all bus routes will run a Sunday schedule on July 4 and 5. Bikes are not allowed on trains on July 4.
- Trash pick-up: Residents who normally have their trash collected on Monday will have it collected on Tuesday instead.
- Banks: All banks are closed Monday.
- Coolidge Corner Theatre: Open all weekend with multiple daily showings of "I am Love," "Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky," "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work," and "Winter's Bone."
