Just over 5,100 Brookline residents had cast their ballot by 6 p.m. today, representing just 12 percent of registered voters in Brookline.
Town Clerk Pat Ward said voter turnout has been greater than the 2008 primary but less than 2006, when a heated gubernatorial race drew wide interest. Ward said today's showing was about what he expected.
"That's what happens when you don't have a race at the top of the ballot," he said.
