20 Percent Of Burlington Families Opting Remote For The Fall
Several hundred families did not respond to the district's latest survey, the superintendent said Tuesday.
BURLINGTON, MA — Roughly one in five Burlington students will not return to schools in person in the fall, superintendent Eric Conti told the School Committee, Tuesday.
Several hundred families did not respond to the district's survey, Conti noted. Those parents are largely awaiting additional information on the remote school plans and environmental reports, he said. The district is planning as if those students were planning to attend in person, he said.
The 20 percent remote number reflects the district's initial survey, Conti said.

Other than students who opt to learn fully remotely, the district is planning to have all students attend schools in person part of the time and learn remotely part of the time. The district's reopening model has elementary school students attend each morning in person and learn remotely in the afternoon. Middle and high school students would attend two days per week in person and learn remotely the other three days.
The district is still developing schedules and making plans for remote learning, Conti said.
