22% Of Burlington Residents Have Gotten At Least 1 Vaccine Dose
The state's plan to prioritize the most vulnerable residents is showing in Burlington, where seniors have received the most vaccinations.

BURLINGTON, MA — Twenty-two percent of the town's nearly 27,819residents have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to new state data released Thursday.
The statewide figure is also 22 percent.
The state's vaccine rollout prioritizing the most vulnerable residents is bearing fruit in Burlington, where those 65 or older have received the majority of vaccinations. Sixty-nine percent of those 75 or older have received at least one dose and 39 percent of them are fully vaccinated.

Forty-four percent of those 65-74 have received at least one dose while 10 percent are fully vaccinated.
But sizable portions of younger residents have also been vaccinated, with 20- to 64-year-olds fully vaccinated at higher rates than 65- to 74-year-olds — slightly over 10 percent — although the fraction that has gotten at least one dose is lower.

Overall, 6,150 of 27,819 residents in Burlington have received at least one dose and 3,207 are fully vaccinated — 12 percent of the population.

The data also includes vaccination rates by race, ethnicity and sex for each city and town, as well as by zip code.
In Burlington, multi-racial residents have been vaccinated at the highest rate: 23 percent have been fully vaccinated. Just 5 percent of Hispanic and Asian residents have been fully vaccinated; 11 percent of white residents and 17 percent of Black residents have.

The Department of Public Health also released town-by-town coronavirus metrics, which showed continued improvement in Burlington. The positive test rate fell to 2.2 percent.
