BCAT Announces Training Workshops For Winter 2020

Workshops are free and open to anyone in the town of Burlington.

BCAT is proud to announce a variety of training workshops focusing on all areas of production. Whether your interest is in learning the basics or honing your skills with post production special effects, or learning the advanced features of shooting with our cameras, we have workshops to meet your needs.

Upcoming Classes:

Orientation - Wednesday January 8th: Welcome to BCAT. Come on inside and get a tour of the studio and learn about your local cable access television studio. Burlington Cable Access has a lot to offer so come check it out.

Basic Camcorder - Tuesday, January 14th: Want to cover an event in town? Shoot something on location? Whether it's the big game, or a group putting on a demonstration, or you making your story idea come to life, you will need to learn the skills to successfully capture your event. This course will show you the basics when it comes to camcorders, microphones, tripods, shot composition and more.

Intro To Sports Coverage - Tuesday, January 28th: Burlington High School is a hotbed of exciting sports games, and we want you to get involved in our coverage! We'll teach you some techniques of how to record your favorite sport and give you some tips about announcing. Is there a sport you want on BCAT that we currently don't show? We'll teach you how to get it on our airwaves!

Your Show & Social Media - Thursday, January 30th: Stay connected! With the rise in popularity of social media over the past few years, it's a good idea to make sure your show has a good presence on the Internet. We'll show you how to create a Facebook fan page for your show, use Twitter effectively, and upload your show to Youtube.

Intro to Studio Production - Wednesday, February 5th: Learn all you need to for a studio production as a complete beginner or for a refresher. You'll learn how easy it is to operate the cameras for basic 3-point shooting. Operate the audio board, create graphics and direct on our state-of-the-art Tricaster broadcast switcher.

Premiere Pro Editing - Tuesday, February 18th: You shot out on location and now it’s time to edit all that raw footage with Adobe's Premiere Pro. Learn to pick out the best takes and place the footage sequentially. Create text and graphics and make your production look really cool.

Intro To TriCaster - Thursday, February 27th : So you want to do a studio shoot with cameras and a crew to cover an event but its not in the BCAT studio. Impossible you ask? No, it's totally possible with a Tricaster! Take this class to learn how to set up and operate the station's "Studio-In-A-Box".
