Burlington DPW: Current Water Use Unsustainable
The Department of Public Works asked residents to comply with water restrictions and limit water use as much as possible.
BURLINGTON, MA — Current water use is unsustainable, the Burlington Department of Public Works said Wednesday. The Department asked residents and businesses to comply with water restrictions and limit excess watering.
"Due to the dry conditions the town is experiencing, outdoor water use has increased dramatically this early in the season," the department said in a release.
On June 16 the town experienced its peak water demand of the season so far, more than double the level in April, according to the release. This means both of the town's water treatment facilities are operating at maximum production, which is not sustainable: the town depends on stored water at the Mill Pond Reservoir.
