Dear Burlington Residents,
My name is Michael Kelly and I'm excited to announce my candidacy for a School Committee seat of the Shawsheen Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School to represent the Town of Burlington.

I grew up in Billerica attending Billerica Public Schools and Shawsheen Tech. I am a proud graduate of the class of 2005. I studied Metal Fabrication and Welding. While attending Shawsheen, I received 3 citizenship awards in Math, History, and Metal Fabrication. As a member of the Boy Scouts of America, I received the highest rank of Eagle Scout in 2004. I have been involved in Municipal Government, serving on Billerica Town Meeting for 3 terms and also on the Ditson School Reuse Committee.
I moved to Burlington in 2015 and help take care of my Mom and my adorable dog Lucy.
I am running for this position because I feel that now more than ever it is a critical point in education with the Covid-19 pandemic and the challenges of delivering a quality vocational education in an ever-changing environment. I want to be the voice for Burlington residents whether you have children who currently attend Shawsheen or are considering attending.
Vocational education plays a crucial role in preparing our students to become highly skilled workers and to be critical thinkers.
My top 5 reasons for running are:
- To transition from hybrid model to become fully in person learning.
- To be fiscally conservative while continuing to meeting the needs of students and staff.
- To Improve Technology so we may provide a level playing field for all
- To preserving our strong State Educational Standards for the 21st century.
- To improve media marketing showcasing our Burlington student.
In closing, I humbly ask that you consider voting for me on April 10, 2021 to represent Burlington residents and to be a voice for the students who currently attend Shawsheen now and for the future students who are considering attending.
Sincerely,
Michael Kelly
