BOSTON, MA -- Kali Flanagan of Burlington and Meghan Duggan of Danvers were honored in a State House ceremony Wednesday for their role in helping the U.S. Women's Hockey Team win its first gold medal since 1998 at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Governor Charlie Baker, Lt. Governor Kathryn Polito, State Sen. Cindy Friedman (D-Arlington) and State Rep. Theodore Speliotis (D-Danvers) took turns pasing around Flanagan and Duggan's gold medals during the ceremony.

"It was a pleasure to honor Kali for all of her hard work as a first-time Olympic Gold Medalist," Friedman said in a news release issued by her office. "Her athletic ability and rare raw talent has made the Town of Burlington, the state of Massachusetts and our country so very proud of her and the team for their incredible accomplishment."

Flanagan is one of five current or former Boston College players on the U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey Team. She plans to return to BC in the fall to finish her senior year.
