Burlington Halloween 2020: What You Need To Know
The selectmen are leaving trick-or-treating up to residents' discretion. The parks and recreation department canceled its alternative event.
BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington's selectmen are leaving trick-or-treating up to residents, they said Tuesday. Residents who do not want to hand out candy should turn their house lights off.
The town does not typically set trick-or-treating hours, and Gov. Charlie Baker has not ordered communities to cancel the traditional holiday celebration.
According to state and federal public health recommendations for safely celebrating the holiday, traditional trick-or-treating is a high risk activity. One lower-risk alternative is setting out candy for trick-or-treaters to take, rather than handing it directly.
