Burlington Mall Macy's Not Among New Store Closures

BURLINGTON, MA — The Burlington Mall Macy's is not among the dozens of stores the company plans to close this year, the department store chain said Wednesday.

Thirty-six Macy's and one Bloomingdale's store will be closed in the coming round of closures, part of a three-year plan to cut one in five stores.

But Burlington Mall's location, one of the mall's anchor stores, will remain open, at least for now.

The only Massachusetts closure named Wednesday, in Cambridge, was already announced.

Macy's announced the multi-year plan to reduce its physical footprint in Feb. 2020, before the coronavirus forced a number of temporary closures. The timeline might shift due to the virus.
