Burlington Police Arrest Man, Accuse Of Scamming Senior
The 23-year-old Hartford man was charged with larceny over $250 from a disabled person over 60.
BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent announced Thursday that the department arrested a Connecticut man Wednesday in an investigation into a local scam. Burlington police accused Hartford resident Erick Hernandez-Quezada, 23, of scamming a local senior. Hernandez-Quezada was charged with larceny over $250 from a disabled person over 60 and released on personal recognizance.
The police accuse the suspect of posing as an attorney and telling a Burlington senior that her son was arrested and she needed to provide $7,500 in bail money.
The elderly victim contacted police and said she had fallen victim to the scam. Investigators came to believe Hernandez-Quezada was the scammer and applied for an extraditable warrant. He was arrested in Hartford and transported by Burlington police to Woburn District Court. He was arraigned Wednesday.
