Burlington Police Logs: Marshmallow Roasting, But No Arrests
Callers also reported scam emails, disturbances, and mosquito spraying. Police issued two summonses, for driving violations.
BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington police made no arrests in the week of April 19 to 25, according to weekly logs. But they issued two summonses and responded to calls about everything from mosquito spraying to marshmallow roasting.

Police responded to a crash around 2 p.m. No injuries were reported.
At 4:25 p.m., a caller reported clouds of smoke. The fire department responded, and found a neighbor was roasting marshmallows in a compliant fire pit. At 6:45, the caller again complained of smoke travelling to his property.

"Fire was extinguished for the evening," the log reads. "No heavy smoke or bylaw violations observed."
Tuesday, April 21
Police responded to a crash at 1:33 a.m. A man was taken to a local hospital with possible injuries.
Wednesday, April 22
At 1:23 p.m., a caller reported an email attempting to extort them for bitcoin.
At 1:59 p.m., a caller reported a low-flying helicopter spraying chemicals. Police confirmed that mosquito spraying is underway.
Thursday, April 24
At 5:26 a.m., a caller reported a wire down on Winn Street.
At 11:49 a.m., police responded to a three-car crash. No one was injured, but two cars were towed and one driver was issued a summons for a charge of driving without a license.
Friday, April 25
At 9:40 p.m., a summons was issued to a 19-year-old Burlington woman for a charge of reckless driving. A caller reported someone driving fast with "teens on the roof of the vehicle."
Saturday, April 26
At 6:53 a.m., a caller reported a duck on District Ave trying to get ducklings out of a sewer drain. Police rescued the ducklings from the drain basin and released them in a nearby canal.
Police also carried out two well-being checks requested by the school department for students not participating in virtual learning.
