Burlington Police Welcome New Officer

BURLINGTON, MA – Police Chief Michael Kent is pleased to report that the Burlington Police Department has added a new officer to its roster.

Officer Michael Julce received his master's degree in criminal justice in criminology from Merrimack College on May 19 and was officially appointed to the Burlington Police Department at a ceremony last night.

Julce is a Malden native and is the son of Mikerlange and Lumane Julce of Malden. He graduated in 2012 from St. Clement High School in Medford and played football at Merrimack from 2012 to 2015. He received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice last year.

"Modern policing is a broader profession than it was in the past. Today's police officer tends to be both highly trained and highly educated," Chief Kent said.

"I am very proud to appoint Officer Julce to our growing and active police department. I wish him the best of luck and remind him that the community of Burlington has high expectations for him and the entire department," he said.

Julce previously completed internships with the Lawrence and Woburn Police Departments and has worked as a youth counselor at a summer camp in Malden.

He has been enrolled in the Municipal Police Training Committee Plymouth Police Academy and will begin the academy program June 5. Upon graduation, he will undergo several weeks of intensive field officer training before starting on shift with the department.

Additionally, during the Monday evening ceremony with the Burlington Board of Selectmen, Deputy Chief Thomas Duffy, Sgt. Timothy McDonough, and Officers Harry Sawyer and Charles Ferguson received awards for their years of dedicated years of service to the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.
