Burlington Schools Release Reentry Plan, Sample Schedules
The district's plans remain fluid, with schedules subject to change, Superintendent Eric Conti noted.
BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington Public Schools released a detailed reentry plan Thursday, laying out the district's learning models, sample schedules and more.
The district is planning to have all elementary school students attend school daily in the morning and to divide other grades into two cohorts, each of which would spend two days per week learning in person. A third cohort of students in the special education program would attend four days per week.
Roughly one-fifth of Burlington families are opting into the remote-only learning option, which is available to all students, Superintendent Eric Conti said Tuesday. The reentry document provides some guidance on what remote learning will look like.

"This document is fluid and will change as necessary based on guidance from the state, CDC, and considerations to our families and our staff," the executive summary notes.
The remote school day will have a similar schedule to in-person school days, Conti wrote, and wherever possible Burlington teachers will work with Burlington students.

"Because of all the moving variables we may need to fill in subject-area gaps with classes and programs approved by the state for such purposes," the superintendent wrote.
The document includes sample schedules for in-person elementary and hybrid middle school, high school and early childhood programs, although the schedules are being adjusted "almost daily," Conti wrote.
