Burlington Schools Report Five Coronavirus Cases In Past Week

Three Burlington schools reported cases from Oct. 18 to Oct. 24.

BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington Public Schools reported five confirmed coronavirus cases last week, across three schools.

The district does not identify whether the cases were students or staff. Fox Hill reported two cases, Thursday and Saturday. Marshall Simonds Middle School reported two cases, Monday and Wednesday. Burlington High School reported a case Sunday, Oct. 18.

Parents whose children were in affected classrooms were already contacted, the district said. The Burlington Board of Health conducts contact tracing to determine close contacts.

As of Thursday, the town has had 352 confirmed cases of the virus, including 26 in the previous two weeks, according to town-by-town data released by the state. Burlington was a "moderate risk community," with 6.7 average daily cases per 100,000 residents.
