Burlington Students Win 15 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

The school district reported that eight Marshall Simonds Middle School and Burlington High School students won awards.

BURLINGTON, MA — Eight Burlington students won 15 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, Burlington Public Schools announced Friday.

Burlington's Gold Key, Silver Key and honorable mention winners were selected from over 8,000 submissions in the two categories. Gold Key winning works will be exhibited in the Massachusetts Scholastic Art and Writing Awards regional online exhibition and are now in the national competition.

Navya Garg, an 11th grade student, won Gold Key awards in writing and photography and 10th grade student Anna Perl won a Gold Key award in the drawing and illustration category.

  • Veronica Chang, 10th grade: Honorable Mention in the Personal Essay & Memoir category for "How to Fit into American Schools."
  • Navya Garg, 11th grade: Gold Key in the Personal Essay & Memoir category for "My Mother Found My Prince Charming."
  • Quinn Mattson, 11th grade: Honorable Mention in the Short Story category for "Shall Not Be."

Art

  • Paul Fauller, 11th grade: Honorable Mention in the Photography category for "vacuum."
  • Paul Fauller, 11th grade: Silver Key in the Photography category for "on the verge."
  • Paul Fauller, 11th grade: Honorable Mention in the Photography category for "i am not an object."
  • Navya Garg, 11th grade: Gold Key in the Photography category for "Hope."
  • Navya Garg, 11th grade: Silver Key in the Photography category for "Sugar Strawberry."
