LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Over $55 M from this years town budget, almost 50%, goes to the schools in Burlington.

Once again this year, despite the current economic conditions, the School Committee is asking for a 3.5% increase in spending with no reduction in expenses.
At what point are the annual requests for increased spending going to end? Each and every year, the School Committee appears to rubber stamp increases in spending with no thought given at all to the financial impact on the Burlington taxpayer, many newly unemployed. Sadly, many Seniors, on fixed incomes, who cannot afford to pay this higher spending are either losing their homes or being forced to move out of the town.

I believe its time for some new blood, with new ideas, on the School Committee in hopes that the residents will not have to face continuous annual real estate tax increases as a result of this out of control spending.
I believe that Adam Senesi is that person. He has experience working with budgets, has no family members working in the school system and has no conflict of interest in negotiating contracts that come in front of the Committee.
Its time for Burlington residents to push back against the continuous, out of control spending in the schools. It's time to look at what we spend money on and, more importantly, where we can reduce expenses and find increased efficiency without reducing the quality of service to students.
Please, I urge you, do not vote for 'more of the same.' Let's give someone else a chance to see what they can do to help us reduce our annual real estate tax increase. Cast your vote for Adam Senesi
