'Common Craft' Restaurant/Retail Concept Gets Planning Board Okay

The Burlington Mall restaurant will highlight local producers like craft breweries, representatives said.

BURLINGTON, MA — Common Craft, a combined restaurant/retail concept focused on local producers, received approval from the Burlington Planning Board, July 16.

The restaurant will be located at Burlington Mall, between Legal Seafoods and Fogo de Chão, representatives told the Planning Board.

As first reported by the Daily Times Chronicle, Common Craft will feature a unified menu but differentiated dining areas based around particular local producers. The retail section, a separate business under the same ownership, will offer their products.

In particular, the initial proposal presented at the Board's June 18 meeting features two areas designed for particular breweries and one for a distillery: Malden's Idle Hands Brewery, Brattleboro, Vt.'s Hermit Thrush Brewry and Salem's Deacon Giles Distillery.

A fourth area, "the common space," will feature local producers for shorter periods. Representatives named pasta as one potential option.

All four areas will have wait service and a shared menu, linked by an interior "main street."
