Burlington High School Presents 'The Miracle Worker'

The Performing Arts Department of Burlington High School will present the Tony Award-winning play The Miracle Worker by William Gibson, on Friday, December 11 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 pm, in the Fogelberg Performing  Center of Burlington High School.

The Miracle Worker is the story of Helen Keller, who as an infant was stricken with a life-threatening illness that left her blind, deaf and mute. Pitied, spoiled and never disciplined, she turns into a wild, uncontrollable and tantrum-throwing child by the age of six, disrupting every situation in the household with her wild fits of anger and rage. As a last resort prior to institutionalizing her, the Keller family hires Annie Sullivan as governess and teacher. Sullivan finds a way to reach Helen through the use of hand signals, persistence and discipline.

Leading the cast is Mia Campbell as Helen Keller and Ivy Saltsman as Annie Sullivan. Joining them are Miranda Russo as Kate Keller, Timmy Sullivan as Captain Arthur Keller, Michelle Pothier as James Keller, Lorraine Kenyike as Anagnosa, Jade Gordon as Viney and Gabby Goulette as Auntie Ev.

Also featured in the cast are Patrick Creedon as A Doctor, Sasha Festi as Martha, Julianna Grossman as Penny, Tehniyat Hakim as a Servant and Christian Weisse as Man’s Voice. Finally, Blind Girls are played by Sam Cullinan, Crystal Curran, Erin Kerr, Laura Frustaci, Amanda McCombs, Caitlyn Shea and Nadia Zaganjori.

The Fogelberg Performing Arts Center, a fully accessible venue, is located at 123 Cambridge Street on the campus of Burlington High School.
