One Injured In Burlington Weekend Shooting
Police are investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred in Burlington over the holiday weekend.

BURLINGTON, MA — A person was shot in Burlington over the holiday weekend, Police Chief Michael Kent reported Tuesday.
Police are investigating the incident and do not believe it is random, the chief said.
Police were notified around 2 a.m. Saturday of a non-fatal shooting. The shooting occurred after midnight, Kent said.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and is expected to recover, Kent said.
"Through the initial investigation, officers learned that the shooting had occurred at Regan Park on Sumpter Road," the news release reads. "Officers and detectives responded to the park and processed the scene for evidence."

The department has increased patrols in the area out of an abundance of caution, the department said. Both uniformed and plainclothes police will patrol the area.
The department asked anyone with information to contact Burlington detectives at 781-272-1212. Kent thanked residents for their cooperation with the initial investigation.
