Suspicious Person in Woods Behind School, Explosion Heard, Macy's Shoplifter Arrested and More

BURLINGTON, MA - The following is a sampling of log entries provided by the Burlington Police Department. Where mentioned, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Wednesday, Feb. 24
10:11 a.m. - Principal of the Pine Glen Elementary School reports receiving report of suspicious person walking through woods during recess. Same occurred on two occasions.
4:02 p.m. - Caller reports while she was stopped at the lights at Cambridge Street at Church Lane she noticed a male party in the m/v next to her with a black stocking over his face with the eyes cut out. Police were unable to locate.

6:55 p.m. - Resident of Phillip Avenue reports finding a dog with no tags or collar. Animal Control Officer notified, owner located.
7:58 p.m. - Macy's Security reports male shoplifter with no I.D. in custody. One male under arrest and another individual summonsed on charges. Police arrested Carlos Barbosa, 2, of Brockton who is charged with larceny over $250, unlawful distribution of a theft detection shielding device and receiving stolen property over $250.

Thursday, Feb. 25
1:59 a.m. - Caller reports hearing a loud explosion and CVS lights at 242 Cambridge St. blinking. Police officer confirmed explosion noise, but unable to determine the source.
2:04 a.m. - Tree across the roadway in the area of 87 Francis Wyman Road. DPW notified, Eversource notified. DPW removed tree.
10:19 a.m - Person in station reports he received a notice from the IRS stating someone may have stolen his identity to attempt to get his Federal tax return. Party settled same with the IRS, and has already contacted the credit bureaus. At this time the reporting party has not been victim to any monetary loss. Same advised to contact the Police Department if that were to change.
11:39 a.m. - Caller reports a raccoon in the middle of the baseball park at Rahanis Park. The animal was put down and Woburn’s Animal Control Officer removed the raccoon from ball field.
8:45 p.m. - Caller reports a suspicious vehicle at the corner of Stanwood Street and Wilmington Road for 20 minutes with red gas tanks on the trunk. Officers found the party ran out of gas and pulled into the driveway. Owner has gas and will remove the vehicle shortly.
10:14 p.m. - Investigation of credit card fraud used at Victoria’s Secret, 75 Middlesex Turnpike and several other stores.
