Unique Assisted Stretching Studio Reopens in Burlington

Local Entrepreneur Reopens the Second StretchLab Studio in Massachusetts

StretchLab, the premier assisted stretching franchise, recently reopened its second Massachusetts studio in Burlington. The studio opened their doors in February, and due to COVID-19 sanctions, closed their doors in March. Located at 85 Middlesex Turnpike, Suite 3090, in the Village at Burlington Mall, the studio introduces people of all ages and fitness levels to the various health and wellness benefits of working with highly trained Flexologists™ in an open, modern, fun and welcoming environment.

To ensure the safety of all members, StretchLab Burlington is taking extra safety measures. Sessions are booked by appointment with a modified schedule to reduce the number of people coming in at once. During a stretch, clients will have at least one bench separating them from another client with a distance of more than six feet between them. Staff members will be wearing face masks and the studio is requiring all clients do the same. Benches and equipment will be sanitized after each use and the studio will be routinely cleaned on a daily basis with CDC approved cleaning products. Additionally, an air purification system has been installed with medical grade HEPA filters and UV sterilization.

StretchLab Burlington is owned and operated by local entrepreneur Marjie Whittemore. She grew up living internationally due to her father’s career. Whittemore came back to the U.S. to attend Northeastern University for graduate studies. Inspired by her father’s entrepreneurial success, her 30-year career in healthcare included academic teaching hospitals, private practices, public health clinics and owning and operating her own homecare franchise. Whittemore was looking to pursue a business that aligned with her passion for health and wellness. When she was introduced to StretchLab, she knew it would be a great addition to Burlington and the surrounding communities.

“Stretching is a modality for everybody and every body type. From the active athlete to the person whose job keeps them sedentary with limited time to work out, StretchLab can benefit all lifestyles,” said Whittemore. “I’ve always been passionate about helping others around me, so being able to see and hear the positive impact StretchLab can make, even in such a short time, truly fills my cup.”

StretchLab offers a variety of one-on-one personalized stretching services including a 25-minute and 50- minute customized stretch sessions that concentrates on the client’s current need and their goals. In addition to one-on-one stretching services, small group stretch classes are available in which a trained Flexologist™ leads clients through a sequence of stretches to address major muscle groups. A variety of monthly memberships are available.

“The response in reopening has been fantastic, our members are happy to be returning to their stretching routine and new people eager to try us out,” added Whittemore. “It has reaffirmed my belief that one-on-one assisted stretching is truly a game changer; it has given people the freedom to move better and feel better in everyday life.”
