White Sox Draft Burlington Native Dan Metzdorf

BURLINGTON, MA — Recently-graduated Boston College left-handed pitcher Dan Metzdorf was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 5th round and 140th overall of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Metzdorf was a baseball and hockey standout at Burlington High School before transferring to Cambridge’s Buckingham, Browne and Nichols after his sophomore year.

Metzdorf was selected in the 38th round by the New York Yankees in last year's draft. With this year's selection, he becomes just the ninth player from B.C. selected in the first five rounds of the draft. He finished career at B.C. with 191 strikeouts in 240.1 innings.
