Cambridge Bicyclist Pushed Into Road By Open Door Before Fatal Crash: Police
Phillips was hit after she entered the roadway from the sidewalk and struck an open door of a Jeep, State Police said.

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The 27-year-old woman who died in yesterday's Inman Square crash was pushed into the street by an open car door, according to preliminary State Police results.
Amanda Phillips was pronounced dead at Mass General Hospital after the crash at 12:17 p.m. She was struck in a busy four-way intersection on Cambridge Street. State Police spokesman David Procopio said the investigation into the crash is ongoing and the findings are preliminary.
According to the investigation, Phillips was hit after she entered the roadway from the sidewalk and struck an open door of a Jeep. The door was opened in a manner consistent with someone exiting the vehicle, state police said. Phillips veered and was struck by a dump truck with a trailer attached, the investigation found.

The full reconstruction report will take several weeks to complete, police said. When it’s finished, it will be up to District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office and Cambridge police to decide whether any charges will be filed, police said.
Phillips was a barista at Diesel Cafe in Davis Square. In a Facebook post the owners said the cafe is closed at 4 p.m. today and reopen 7 a.m. Saturday.
