Cambridge Detective Saved Child's Life: Police
Off-duty detective gave six year old drowning victim CPR

CAMBRIDGE, MA - A Cambridge police detective is being lauded for his life-saving efforts last month while he was off duty.
On the afternoon of May 28 at the Ferncroft Country Club in Middleton, Cambridge Police Detective Angel Barbosa performed CPR on a 6-year-old drowning victim who had shown no signs of life, according to police. He continued to perform CPR until Middleton Fire and Police arrived on scene. By the time they arrived, the child had a pulse and was breathing.
She was later transported to Salem Children's Hospital and then to Mass General Hospital. That same night, doctor's informed Detective Barbosa and the Cambridge Police that the girl was fine and that she only remained at the hospital for further observation, police said.

Last night, Detective Barbosa was recognized by the Middleton Police and Fire Department for his life-saving actions. He was also reunited with the girl and her family. "We congratulate Detective Barbosa for his heroic actions on and off-duty!" said Cambridge police on social media.
