Cambridge Man Charged In Tewksbury Receipt Scam
POLICE: A Cambridge man walked into Home Depot in Tewksbury with a bogus receipt and walked out with $638.

LOWELL - Tewksbury police say a 34-year-old Cambridge allegedly ran a scam at Home Depot where he walked in with a $636 receipt for two spray insulation kits, grabbed the kits off the shelf then went to front desk for a refund.
In Lowell District Court on Tuesday, Steven C. Santos, of 310R Prospect St. Apt. 2, Cambridge, was released on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty to larceny over $250 by single scheme.
Tewksbury police allege that at 1 p.m. on Feb. 21, officers were dispatched to Home Depot at 85 Main St. for a suspected shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, the store's loss prevention officers told police that Santos came into the store and selected two Touch'N Foam kits off the shelf in the building materials department.

Santos then placed the items in his carriage and walked to the service desk where he pulled out a fraudulent receipt for $638. Santos was stopped before he could drive away.
His next court date is a pretrial conference on March 29.
