Cambridge Police Investigating Gunshots Near Central

Cambridge Police are investigating early morning gunshots in the area of Central Square.

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Cambridge Police Department is investigating reports of gunshots that occurred earlier this morning in the area of Norfolk Street and Worcester Street.

According to police, officers responded to the area around 5:48 a.m. after several gunshots were reported and the ShotSpotter gun detection system was activated. There are currently no reported injuries or victims.

Police confirmed the gunshots and recovered shell casings in the area of Norfolk Street and Worcester Street.

One resident reported hearing a motor vehicle speeding away following reports of gunshots, but was unable to provide any description of the vehicle.
