Partners Eyes Exeter Health Resources Purchase

Partners HealthCare is again looking to expand, this time focusing on acquiring Exeter Health Resources in New Hampshire as part of MGH.

EXETER, N.H. - Partners HealthCare is again looking to expand, this time focusing on acquiring Exeter Health Resources in New Hampshire as part of Mass General Hospital. According to the BBJ, Exeter Health Resources would form a regional non-profit with Wentworth-Douglass, which MGH acquired last year.

“Assuming successful results of due diligence, the parties will work together to negotiate and develop a definitive agreement which will be subject to review by state and federal regulatory agencies,” the three hospitals announced in a statement. “The diligence and regulatory review process is expected to take 15-18 months.”

The proposal would grow Partners HealthCare, the parent organization of MGH, by yet another organization. Exeter would bring 2,300 staff and 100 beds to the system, as well as its 140-physician practice known as “Core Physicians” and its visiting nurse association.
