Pool Shuttle Pilot Continues Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) will begin piloting a shuttle from the Frisoli Youth Center (61 Willow St) to the DCR Veterans Memorial Swimming Pool at Magazine Beach this Saturday, July 16th and next Saturday, July 23rd to gauge interest and use. The City will then evaluate whether or not this shuttle service will continue and will notify residents before Saturday, July 30th.

"Given that the Gold Star Pool will be closed this summer, community members had inquired about the possibly of a City-run shuttle for residents to the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Veterans Memorial Swimming Pool at Magazine Beach," the city's website said. "An online survey was distributed to our King Open project email list and flyers were distributed to neighbors. 34 residents completed a survey about their thoughts on possible shuttle service, with a majority stating they were “very likely” to use such a service."

Please note that children under age 12 riding the shuttle should be accompanied by an adult as, per DCR rules of conduct for swimming pools, “No person under the age of 12 years old may be admitted to any DCR swimming pool or wading pool without a parent or adult.”
