Pope launched his career in 2003 by playing with Paul Hammer and Zach Berkman, with whom he went on to form the band District. The band released four albums before Pope was ready to try it solo. The 2008 release of his debut album, “Daylight,” gained him recognition as a serious solo artist.
The 2017 album, “Work,” drew comparisons to those of both Springsteen and Tom Petty. Pope's new releases focus on life lessons and his experiences as a new father. In a July 2019 interview, he told Broadway World the process behind writing his new songs is one of honesty: “Writing these songs reminded me of where I've been and how hard it was to claw my way out of that pit of my own creation.”
