Stolen Ambulance Strikes Cambridge Police Cruiser: CPD

No injuries reported.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — A stolen ambulance struck a Cambridge Police cruiser Tuesday evening, according to the police department, "lurching forward" as a police officer ordered its driver to stop and blocked its path.

Nobody was injured, spokesperson Jeremy Warnick told Patch, and the alleged ambulance thief was taken into custody.

Cambridge Police said in a press release that 48-year-old Everett Goss, of Cambridge, stole a Pro Ambulance from an unnamed local hospital.

The call about a stolen ambulance came through around 5:08 p.m. from Pro Ambulance Dispatch, Cambridge Police said in a press release. The caller told police the ambulance was stopped at the traffic lights at Cambridge and Third Street.

According to police, "A Cambridge Police officer arrived in the intersection in time to observe the ambulance moving on Third Street towards McGrath Highway. The officer was able to position himself in front of the ambulance at Gore Street, where the ambulance came to a stop. The officer exited his cruiser and order(ed) the operator to put the ambulance in park and turn it off. The operator attempted to comply, but the ambulance lurched forward into the cruiser causing minor damage."

Following his arrest, Goss will be charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Operating Without a License, Cambridge Police said.
