Telecommunications Outage Hits MIT

Phones on campus, including calls to police, were briefly impacted.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — According to MIT, a major telecommunications outage affected phones on campus, including calls to MIT Police, Tuesday morning.

The outage occurred around 11:30 a.m., and service was restored as of 12:19 p.m., MIT said.

People using campus phones can again report emergencies on campus to (617) 253-1212.
