Canton Courts Close Temporarily Due To Coronavirus Exposure

Norfolk County Probate and Family Court and Metro South Housing Court are temporarily closed after an employee tested positive.

CANTON, MA — Norfolk County Probate and Family Court and Metro South Housing Court in Canton have announced that they will be closed Monday due to COVID-19 exposure.

The courthouses will be cleaned during the closure and reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

"The Norfolk County Probate and Family Court and Metro South Housing Court in Canton are closed for disinfecting and will reopen on Tuesday, January 26th," says the district's website. "A member of the Register’s Office who was last there on Friday 1/22 has tested positive for COVID-19."

The temporary closure of Norfolk County Probate and Family Court and Metro South Housing Court comes after the state announced a 90-day plan for operations on Jan. 8.

The plan, which will last through April 5, includes staffing court offices at 50% capacity, adopting a phased approach to resuming jury trials, developing jury trial priority plans, and expanding remote operations.
