The fire lasted two-and-a-half hours and caused $250,000 worth of damage to the Shepard Way home.
CANTON, MA — Two people are displaced after a 2-alarm fire ravaged through a home at 8 Shepard Way Tuesday morning. Around 1:20 a.m., firefighters arrived to heavy smoke coming from the rear of the home near the attached garage. The fire then extended into the, attic, so a second alarm was struck and firefighters from Stoughton, Sharon, Norwood and Milton came to help, while Randolph and Westwood fire departments provided station coverage.
Fire officials said it took about two-and-a-half hours to put out the fire. The two adults residents made it out of the house safely and were not injured. The initial investigation indicates that the fire started in a room in the rear of the garage and was likely caused by an electrical malfunction.4
"This fire was difficult to fully extinguish because once it got into the concealed spaces in the walls and the open space in the attic, it could have spread throughout the whole house," Doody said in a statement. "Thankfully we were able to get it knocked down and prevent the house from being a total loss."
