Canton Gymnastics Coach Vaults Into Action To Catch Girl

Canton Metro South Gymnastics Coach Chad Buzek's quick-thinking grab of 9-year-old Cherrish Remy goes viral.

CANTON, MA — Coach Chad Buzek said he spends "a lot of time catching kids" about to take a tumble at Metro South Gymnastics in Canton. One of those recent quick-thinking grabs has gone viral.

The Easton coach darted into action at a recent national competition in Nashville as he said he saw 9-year-old Cherrish Remy looking a little off stride as she went airborne on the vault. When Remy went to land on the pads behind the vault, she clipped the edge and appeared headed for the concrete below when video Remy's mother, Justine Ramos, took of the event shows Buzek leaping into the screen to save Remy from a hard fall.

The video was featured with an interview with Buzek, Ramos and Remy on a segment of Inside Edition on Friday with the YouTube clip of the segment including the catch receiving 21,000 views in three days.

"Definitely not the first time he's saved her," said Justine Ramos, who could be heard gasping on the clip when it became clear Remy might be headed for a hard fall.

The video has since been featured on Good Morning America and local news stations.
