Rachel Carson is Focus of Wakefield Estate's Stone Soup

The second in the Wakefield Estate's 2020 Stone Soup and Speaker series will examine Rachel Carson and her life-long research and work on the environment. At the event on Thursday, Feb. 27th at 6:00 pm, Fruitlands Museum historian Helen Batchelder will discuss Carson's deep interest in the natural world and lead us on a journey showing us where we've responded well to the warning bells rung decades ago in Carson's ground breaking work Silent Spring, first published in 1962 but still relevant today. With 2020 being the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, this year's series is focusing on key thought leaders from the past whose work continues to inform and influence our knowledge and work today as it relates to the environment and climate concerns. The program starts at 6:00 pm when guests can enjoy a bowl of homemade soup and bread before settling in to hear the speaker's remarks. Suggested donation $10.
