Thanksgiving Football: Canton Eyes Season Sweep Of Stoughton
Canton will honor 1979 Super Bowl squad, this year's girls volleyball state champions, when it hosts Stoughton Thursday morning.
CANTON, MA — The Canton High football team will take on Stoughton for the 94th time in the rivalry's history as part of a big Thanksgiving Day of athletic celebration at Canton High School's WWII Veterans' Memorial Field. Game time is at 10 a.m.
Canton enters the game at 9-1 as the Bulldogs won nine straight games to start the season before a loss to Holliston in the playoffs on Nov. 15. Stoughton enters the game at 8-2 and is coming off a 28-21 victory against Walpole on Nov. 15.
The Bulldogs won the first meeting of the season between the teams, 10-0, on Sept. 27. Stoughton leads the all-time series 48-41-4.

Gates open at 9 a.m. with tickets $10 for adults, $5 for students, $5 for senior citizens and children 8-and-under free. No passes or booster memberships are accepted for this game.
Canton High will be honoring the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Super Bowl championship team at the game with honorary captains the 1979 captains Dan Botsch and Steve Olsen. The team will be honored during a brief halftime ceremony.

Canon will also celebrate the state championship girls volleyball team at halftime.
The senior cheerleaders and their parents will be recognized for their contributions to the program during a ceremony about 9:30. There will also be a halftime event with students from both Canton and Stoughton who have created a drive for a local food pantry. Spectators are encouraged to bring a donation to the game.
The access road on the Canton campus will be shut down from the top of the hill by the American Hill Hall to the lower parking lot from 9:30 a.m. until the end of the game. Anyone parking on the upper campus will only be able to use the main entrance and exit, while anyone parking on
the lower lot will be able to enter and exit through Reynolds Street.
