Unemployment Rate Down in Canton

Fewer Canton residents received unemployment assistance in February than did in January, according to recent statistics released by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The February unemployment rate in Febraury this year was 5.7 percent (or 602 people), down from 6.2 percent (722 people) in January. The rate in February 2012 was 5.9 percent (685 people).

Statewide, the February unemployment rate was 6.8 percent, down from 7.4 percent in January and 7.3 percent in February 2012.

The national unemployment rate for February was 7.7 percent, down from 7.9 percent in January and 8.3 percent in February 2012.
