A Valentine's Day Party -- for Pups
Also, a free Wellness Lunch and info on how to join a CSA.

Today is Tuesday, Feb. 8. Here are five things you need to know today.
1. This sounds fun. And seriously cute. This week our friends at are hosting a doggie Valentine’s Day party — the Lucky Lab Valentine’s Dance, to be precise. Stop by and fill out your pet’s favorite valentine and join the celebration, which starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday. There will be beer, wine, treats and pupcakes from Kickass Cupcakes in Somerville.
2. Have you been hearing about CSAs — and wondering if they're a good idea? Well, this growing season you have a chance to find out firsthand if they're for you. A local mom is organizing a local CSA distribution from World PEAS Cooperative — meaning you can get a weekly share of fresh, local veggies each week from June to October from a Main Street location. Check out our for more details. If I may: I've had a CSA for four years now. I can't say enough good things about the experience. Lots of great fruit and veggies. It saves you money in the long-run. And it encourages lots of experimental cooking.

3. And this sounds healing: Our friend (and columnist) Karen Fabian is leading a free on Thursday from 12 to 1 p.m. She’ll be talking about how to decrease back pain, sleep better, improve digestion, take care of old injuries and increase flexibility and strength. The good people at will be providing lunch. RSVPs were due Monday, but if you really want to secure a spot, I bet you could email Karen and ask very nicely: Karen@barebonesyoga.com.
4. As you might know, Patch is owned by AOL. Yesterday there was some big news about AOL acquiring the Huffington Post, one of the most popular news and analysis web sites in the world. (You can read about the deal in the Wall Street Journal, though it was reported in most major outlets.) Exciting news. Stay tuned for more details.

5. Ignore those warnings about snow today. I mean, there’s a good chance there will be snow. Just a bit before noon. But after the Great Melting that we enjoyed on Sunday and Monday, this will feel like nothing. (I am happy to report that I saw a trace of grass outside of Police Headquarters in Boston on Monday.) However, it looks like it will get chilly Tuesday night: wind chill as low as -7 and lots of big gusts.
