Boston City Councilors Seek Raise Despite Poor Meeting Attendance
Boston City Council President Bill Linehan has reportedly attended just 15 percent of meetings since January of 2014.

Several Boston city councilors are seeking an increased salary despite having poor attendance at City Council meetings, The Boston Globe reports.
Some councilors, who earn upwards of $87,000 per year, don’t punch time clocks. According to an analysis conducted by the Globe, no one tracks the hours worked by the councilors.
Council President Bill Linehan has reportedly attended just 15 percent of council meetings since January 2014. Linehan was among many councilors in favor of a proposed raise to $112,500 per year.

The Globe’s analysis reveals Linehan’s attendance is the lowest out of the 13-member board.
The city councilors have not received a raise since 2006. After heavy public criticism, the council proposed a smaller raise to $107,500.
